This past Friday, October 1, Walt Disney World celebrated its 50th anniversary, beginning the 18-month long celebration of The World’s Most Magical Celebration, and it was BUSY!

Lines to enter any merchandise shop or purchase food extended throughout Magic Kingdom. Guests waited over one hour to get their Starbucks drinks, Mobile Orders were backed up, and virtual queues were full. We even saw fights break out in the at-capacity Emporium, which had a line that went all the way back into the Walt Disney World Railroad station. Later in the day, Disney had to close down Park Hopping into the Park as Guests were excited to see the new firework show Disney Enchantment.

Many of the attractions had short wait times because of all the hype surrounding food and merchandise at the theme parks. That being said, we did see 26 attraction breakdowns on the first day of the celebrations. Below is a list of every attraction that broke down and how many times each ride broke down. Thanks to Wdw Stats (@wdwstats) on Twitter, we could see what attractions went down that day.

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (2)
  • Haunted Mansion (2)
  • Splash Mountain (3)
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (2)
  • Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
  • It’s Tough to be a Bug!
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (2)
  • Kali River Rapids (2)

Luckily, each attraction that broke down was running again later in the day, so Guests still had the opportunity to ride. At Walt Disney World there are so many attractions with such advanced technology that it is not a shock or surprise to see a ride temporarily close. Each day, at least one attraction will experience a closure, but Disney works fast to bring it back to life shortly after in most cases.

If you ever notice a ride is closed, keep an eye on your My Disney Experience App, as it will list what rides are down, as well as tell you the moment they are available for you to ride once again!

What attraction have you wanted to ride at Disney World, but then noticed it was closed down?
