Yesterday, Walt Disney World Resort opened the highly anticipated Space 220 restaurant at EPCOT. Space 220 was meant to open in February 2020, then March 2020; then the pandemic put on indefinite hold for the restaurant. Finally, we have seen the doors to space open to massive crowds.
During yesterday’s grand opening, Guests were able to dine at the restaurant on a first-come, first-serve basis. Disney reservations became available on the My Disney Experience app yesterday, but bookings are for September 27 and onward. Currently, reservations for Space 220 starting on September 27 to November 19 are entirely sold out. But, if you want to dine here and are available this week, you are in luck!
This week, Guests can walk up to this dining location for their chance to eat here as Space 220 runs as a first-come, first-serve restaurant through to September 26. Yesterday, Guests flooded EPCOT and waited over 3 hours to get a seat. Today, things are changing.
Disney has provided a solution to the long wait times Guests were faced with yesterday. Thanks to Disney, we now know exactly what you need to do if you want to eat at the restaurant this week. Now, all Guests have to do is go straight to the restaurant and speak with a Cast Member at the front to put their name in for a return time. They will be told when to come back based on what is available. This way, you can meander all through EPCOT and you can simply return back to the restaurant at the return time you were given. This works a lot like a virtual queue system.
Considering how popular Space 220 is already proving to be, we suggest heading straight to the restaurant as soon as you enter the theme park in order to speak to a Cast Member and receive a time to return, as long as space is available. You may still have to wait in a line to get to the host and speak to them about when you can return to the restaurant to dine later in the day, but this line is already much shorter than the wait Guests endured yesterday when they stood until it was their turn and a table was ready.
Or, if you are lucky, you could head straight to Space 220 at rope drop and eat there as soon as the restaurant opens for the day!
