Reporter Scott Gustin took to Twitter to share the news that the NBA Experience will not be reopening at Walt Disney World. The NBA Experience has remained closed despite Disney Springs being reopened.

BREAKING: The NBA Experience at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World will not reopen and is permanently closed.

Disney says this will not impact their other partnerships with the NBA or their business relationship with the Orlando Magic.

Disney will share an update about the future of the NBA Experience location at a later date.

The NBA Experience took over Disney Quest at Disney Springs. This offering only opened 2 years ago, but now is closed permanently. This is not typical of an entertainment offering at Disney Springs, and at this time, little is known about why the NBA Experienced has closed.

Here is how Disney describes the NBA Experience on its website. Currently, the website still lists this venue as “Temporarily Closed” we anticipate Disney to release more details soon:

Enter an immersive world where all of your basketball dreams are just a layup away.
Inside this impressive venue inspired by modern-day NBA arenas, you can enjoy 13 unique experiences that merge the magic of Disney with the thrills of the NBA. Step through the Player Entry Tunnel—welcomed by the roar of an excited crowd—and embark on the full player journey, from training to competitions to championships and beyond.

City Works is the sports bar that is attached to the same building that used to house the NBA Experience. This restaurant is currently open, and it is likely that it will stay open despite the NBA Experience closing. While the restaurant carries a sports theme it is entirely separate from the NBA Experience.

You likely recall that Walt Disney World successfully held NBA games in the “Disney Bubble” during the height of the pandemic in 2020. Disney and the NBA have a long history of working together and it is unclear at this time if there will be another NBA offering at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Let us know if you are sad to see the NBA Experience go in the comments!
