Ever since readers around the world were introduced to The Boy Who Lived in 1997, the Harry Potter fandom is one that has refused to die down. To this day, people just can’t get enough of Harry Potter and his life at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They love it so much that Universal Studios has opened a Wizarding World of Harry Potter at both its Universal Orlando Resort in 2010 and Universal Studios Hollywood in 2016.

The final book in the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published in 2007, with the final movie coming 4 years later. However, fans are not ready to let Harry go. They have been asking for a reboot, or a television series, anything to give them more of the wizards that they have come to know and love.

Unfortunately, at this time, there doesn’t seem to be a Harry Potter reboot in the works. There had been rumors swirling around that one may be happening for HBOmax, but those were unconfirmed, and HBO denied that anything like that was taking place. However, it is still fun to think about what a reboot may look like. Would the original cast come back? Would they reprise their roles?

Daniel Radcliffe, the young actor who brought Harry Potter to life, recently sat down with Josh Horowitz for the writer’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. Radcliffe was there to talk about his new TBS show Miracle Workers, but the host could not resist talking about the films that made Radcliffe famous, including asking about whom he would want to play in any potential reboot.

Shockingly, Radcliffe did not pick the role that made him famous. Instead, he picked two men who were instrumental in Harry’s life throughout both the books and films.
“I would probably want to go with like, Sirius [Black] or [Remus] Lupin,” Radcliffe said. “Those were always the two characters that I was like, ‘They’re great.”

Remus Lupin was originally played by David Thewlis and Sirius Black was played by Gary Oldman. While both characters died in the original book and film series, Radcliffe would absolutely be able to play either character in a reboot that examines the world of Harry Potter before Harry Potter actually existed.
Radcliffe is not the only Harry Potter actor who has shown interest in a reboot. Tom Felton, who played Harry’s nemesis Draco Malfoy, has also said that he would love to play either Draco’s father Lucius, or even Draco’s son Scorpious in a new Harry Potter project.

While no Harry Potter reboot is currently in the works, never say never when it comes to the devoted wizarding fan base and their determination to see a new series come into existence.
