Unfortunately, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since December 2018, and therefore, has not given a grand circle tour in over two years. This had to be done in order for Disney World to begin construction and make way for the upcoming TRON attraction, which will be located in Tomorrowland once complete.

The good news is that as TRON construction continues making progress, it looks like the theme park may be gearing up to reopen the Walt Disney World Railroad!

At this time, Disney World still has not announced a reopening date for the Walt Disney World Railroad; however, a new permit has been filed for the Fantasyland Railroad station — Could this mean a reopening is in sight?

The permit filed, which you can view here, is for the location of 1296 Magic Kingdom Dr, which is the address for the Fantasyland station and area restroom. The description of the work reads “to provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction”.

Though not much other information can be found on the permit, it is clear that Disney is working on the Fantasyland station or the restrooms in the area. If the theme park is working on the Fantasyland station, it could mean they are gearing up for a reopening. We have seen construction workers out and about near the Fantasyland station as well as near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and are continuing to make strides towards a reopening.

We do not know exactly what type of work Disney is planning to perform at the Railroad station or restrooms, but Inside the Magic will update you as we get information.

Again, please keep in mind that at this time Disney World still has not announced a reopening date for the Walt Disney World Railroad, but the permit filed seems that they are moving in the right direction. Inside the Magic will continue to update you on the Walt Disney World Railroad as we get information.
