Disney Fans Overwhelm Halloween Event Ticket Sales

This morning, Oogie Boogie Bash tickets were released to the public as Disneyland Resort prepares to bring Halloween back to Disney California Adventure! However, it seems that the excitement and demand may have been a little too strong for the Disneyland website.

Many Guests looking to purchase a ticket to the event have received “error” screens, as it seems the site may be experiencing a temporary malfunction. From the looks of it, it seems that those who were lucky enough to get through the queue before 9:45 a.m. were able to obtain them successfully; however, after that, the site began to no longer work correctly for many.

When we joined the virtual queue, we were quoted over an hour as our wait time. That time significantly dropped to 22 minutes and then continued to fluctuate until it allowed us to select our preferred dates for tickets. As you can see below, there is a lot of availability at the time of this article’s publishing and no dates have been sold out yet.

However, after selecting your date and implementing your payment method, it seems to no longer register the purchase as complete. Below is a photo of an error screen we have received multiple times after attempting to make the ticket purchase.

When clicking the “back” button from this screen, we were stuck on a loading screen, as seen below.

Since this error occurs after the payment information has been implemented, those experiencing this issue may see that they have a pending charge on their credit card; however, no confirmation email has been sent. Disney will surely resolve this issue and not charge anyone unjustly, but at the moment, Guests may be shocked to see a charge or multiple charges.

Some Guests have reported that, similarly, they received error messages when purchaseing A Touch of Disney tickets earlier this year. A few hours after receiving the error message and a pending charge on their credit card, they did, in fact, receive a confirmation email. So, based on that experience, some Guests are recommending to hold off and wait to see if they receive a confirmation email later in the day before attempting to purchase more tickets.

Note that if your account is still charged multiple times by the end of today and you still have not received a confirmation email — or if you were charged multiple times in an attempt to only make one transaction — you should reach out to Disney directly to help resolve the issue. The phone number is (714) 781-4636.

As a few of us at Inside the Magic continue to be held at an hour wait time in the virtual queue, there is a chance that Disney may have paused the queue in order to correct any of the incurring issues. However, that is speculation on our end. We have seen Disney’s website experience similar issues in the past when releasing tickets, so this occurrence is likely not too surprising for many.

If you are experiencing this issue as well, calling Disneyland’s reservation line could be a good alternative, as a Cast Member may be able to help you purchase the tickets without experiencing the same glitch many other Guests are. The phone number is (714) 781-4636. That being said, at the time of this article’s publishing, all phone lines are busy.

We have no doubts that Disney is working to resolve these issues and help Guests get their Oogie Boogie Bash tickets in time for the Halloween season. As this is the first day of ticket sales and this special event is highly anticipated, Guests are likely so eager to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.

At this time, Disney has not yet shared a status update regarding ticket sales and the possible glitch that is occurring. Guests are still able to join the virtual queue.
