Cabanas, the buffet-style restaurant onboard all four existing Disney Cruise Line ships — the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder — is officially being replaced onboard the newest Disney ship, the Disney Wish. Marceline Market will take the place of the popular island-themed dining space.

The new restaurant is described as:

Discover an ever-changing menu of specialized offerings at Marceline Market, named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri. Choose from 10 food stations and a café-style beverage bar, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. Enjoy a walk-around experience for breakfast and lunch, and table service at dinnertime.

Delight in this distinctly Disney twist: at Marceline Market, the local proprietors are Disney Characters—and the stations are themed to beloved Disney animated films!

It is unsurprising that Cabanas is being replaced — Disney never confirmed that it would be available on the Wish. Gone, however, are the palm trees and tropical flair, replaced with what appears to be a “Main Street, U.S.A.”- inspired dining experience, based on Walt’s early life in small-town America.

Disney confirmed that Marceline Market will be a quick-service style experience, with table service at dinner. The fact that the kiosks are not self-serve is likely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for new health and safety protocols, particularly in food service establishments.

The Disney Cruise Line website describes Cabanas as:

Cabanas is a novel, free-flowing buffet experience serving made-to-order mouthwatering specialties. During breakfast and lunch, wander the “boardwalk”—home to over 10 diverse food stations—and partake in an eclectic menu of freshly prepared, culinary classics. At dinnertime, the restaurant is transformed into a table-service dining experience where entrees are cooked to order in the show kitchen.

At this time, Disney has not announced if the existing Cabanas establishments will be rethemed or otherwise altered to not include buffet dining when the Disney Cruise Line fleet returns to the high seas.
