Universal Orlando Resort seems to be recovering from the pandemic with the increased attendance of Guests that we have seen since the theme park’s official reopening back in June of 2020.
Universal has already announced that their capacity has increased from the previously set 35% — and as mask mandates for fully vaccinated Guests have been removed, and the opening of VelociCoaster, it seems everyone wants to take in the adventure! One of the biggest issues caused by the increase of capacity, however, is lines for food.
As someone who visits Universal Orlando Resort often, I can attest that Guests are flocking to any sign of food, and lines are always out the door or stretching down a pathway. For example, in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Guests such as myself have had to wait 75 minutes in line to enter Three Broomsticks, a quick-service location. Then, you must wait to have your food prepared which takes around 20-30 more minutes.
It is clear that there is a demand for more food locations at Universal right now, and it seems that Universal is listening to what Guests want. Bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct) snapped a photo of a new snack location at Islands of Adventure, which is clearly temporary.
In the photo, we can see the location is likely getting ready to see ice cream, popsicles, and possibly pretzels, churros, or turkey legs inside the glass food warmer.

Having stands like this may help alleviate the massive lines that other food stands are starting to see as more Guests come to the park. Although the stand is likely not offering specialty food, many Guests are just looking for a quick snack and a bottle of water, which this stand is surely capable of!
It will be interesting to see if more of these temporary style stands pop up or if we need to get used to long lines for theme park food once again. If you want to avoid long lines, we suggest making a dining reservation in advance and bring a few small snacks in your bag to save you from waiting in line at a snack stand when you could be waiting to ride an attraction!
