Disney World has undergone many operational changes over the past year as the theme park mogul has had to adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and now, things are starting to really return to normal.

The biggest changes that we have seen from Disney World as of late include temperature checks no longer being taken as Guests enter theme parks or Disney Springs, mask mandates changing to allow Guests to remove masks while outdoors, and removing the 6 ft social distancing language from their website.

Orange Country, Florida, approved the change from 6 ft physical distancing to 3 ft. Universal Orlando Resort was the first theme park, along with Orlando International Airport, to change their distancing rules to the new relaxed protocols.

We then saw Disney change their physical distancing language to remove 6 ft. However, at the parks, distancing markers continued to reflect the 6 ft distancing. Now, it seems things are beginning to change!

As we mentioned, temperature checks at Disney World are now a thing of the past, and it seems that the social distancing markers that once led to them are also being removed.

As we can see from KeriVision (@OneGoldenSun) on Twitter, the physical distancing markers that once led to the Disney Springs temperature checks have been removed by Cast Members.

Since Disney is beginning to relax physical distancing, it makes sense that they would begin removing the markers from a line that now moves a lot faster as the temperature checks are removed.

What will be interesting will be to see if Disney replaces the now removed markers with new ones that are closer together at 3 ft, as we saw at Universal Orlando Resort. On the website, we can only see that social distancing is required, without a number to accompany how much distancing, specifically, is needed. For now, we will have to wait and see if and when Disney officially decides to denote the new distancing measures.

Also, as we have discussed in the past, many have speculated that because the theme parks are reducing social distancing to three feet, they could also increase capacity at the theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom). Disney CEO Bob Chapek already announced that capacity has risen from the previously denoted 35%, so this theory seems to be proving true!

For now, all Guests should continue to comply with the markers set out on the floor, as outlined by Disney.

You can find up-to-date information on COVID-19 and safety protocols on the official website for the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Would you feel comfortable reducing physical distancing now that mask mandates are removed while outdoors?
