Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus is only weeks away from its grand opening on June 4, and Marvel fans cannot wait! Now the already-open Marvel attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, has faced some updates during these unique times and before the Avengers land’s grand unveiling.
This fun and fantastic Marvel thrill ride not only includes memorable elements of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, but it also comes with some great music as well. The premise of the attraction is to help Rocket in his mission to breakout the Guardians from Taneleer Tivan’s (the Collector) unique museum. What really took this attraction to new heights, wasn’t just random lift and drop sequences, but having Rocket Raccoon there to tell you about the mission itself during a fantastic and hilarious preshow!
When Rocket escapes, he commandeers a gantry lift and enlists your help on a harrowing mission to rescue his fellow Guardians. Prepare to unleash intergalactic mayhem from the top of the fortress to the bottom, as one of Star-Lord’s awesome mixtapes blasts a classic tune!

Not only is the story of this attraction great, but the ride queue on its own is also a marvel! There is so much to take in. However, due to the pandemic, health and safety protocols for ride queues have been a bit different. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! cannot sustain an indoor queue with proper social distancing at the moment. So, this means Guests can’t spend time meandering the collection, and it also means we can’t watch the fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon preshow for the attraction.
Instead, as we have learned thanks to dlr_updates on Instagram, the queue that leads to the loading area is now filled with signs along the pathway to inform them of the details they would typically learn from Rocket Raccoon during the preshow.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland is also not currently operating its preshow at the moment in order to allow Guests to efficiently move through the attraction queue. Disney has not yet shared when attraction preshows at Disneyland Resort will return, but we hope that as restrictions loosen in the future and as we continue to make progress during the pandemic, these preshows will come back sooner rather than later.
