Walt Disney World and Disneyland have felt like a second home to many of us Disney fans and to so many Cast Members as well. Disney Parks have continued to be extremely popular this year as Disney World increases operations and Disneyland finally reopened. With health and safety measures set in place at both Disney Resorts in the U.S., it has been overwhelming to see so many Cast Members return to the parks and Disney Resorts, but with capacity still limited, so many still hang onto hope that they will return soon.
With more vaccinations being distributed every day, CDC guidance continuing to change, and the hopes that theme parks will return to normal soon, CEO Bob Chapek spoke in a Q&A at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference about Disney Cast Members and the future of Disney Parks.
Good news ahead
Previously, we shared a heartwarming Cast Compliment post, in which we shared some good news about Cast Members. Just a few weeks back, Chapek shared that around 80% of Walt Disney World Cast Members have returned to the Most Magical Place on Earth:
“In terms of labor, we had about 80% of our cast members return that we’ve asked to return. And obviously one of the gating factors is to continue to get more and more cast members back, it thrills us to be able to do that. We’ve had no problems whatsoever in terms of trying to get our cast to come back and make some magic for our guests.”
Today, Disney CEO Chapek makes clear to reiterate about Cast Members in Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. He said that a “great majority of our Cast Members who we’ve called back are ready, willing, and able to return”
This is such great news, especially for those who have been waiting ever so patiently and are anticipating coming back to work at the theme parks in California and Florida!
This year is looking brighter than ever as we have already learned from CEO Chapek today that both Disney Resorts in Florida and California are preparing to normalize theme parks again very soon. Disney Guests have been given the green light to remove their masks while outdoors in Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Resort may see more normalized operations and loosened restrictions at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks on June 15, though more information is expected to come soon.
Bob Chapek stated today that Disney hopes to return to “normal theme park operations” as soon as they are allowed to responsibly do so.
With that being said, we hope to run into more of our favorite Cast Members soon in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, and we keep our fingers crossed that every single Cast Member can make more Disney memories for themselves and for thousands of Disney visitors this year.
