This is the second time Universal is extending Mardi Gras. Previously, the festival was set to end on March 28, but was extended to April 11. Now, the festival will run through May 2, according to an official press release.

Due to continued popular demand, the good times will keep rolling as Universal Orlando Resort extends its dynamic celebration of flavor and entertainment, Mardi Gras 2021: International Flavors of Carnaval, through Sunday, May 2. Guests have even more time to enjoy this unique global food fest at Universal Studios Florida, featuring more than 100 food and beverage items inspired by Carnaval celebrations from around the world.

This year, Universal has had to get creative in order to safely hold the Mardi Gras festival due to the ongoing pandemic. The event is currently called Mardi Gras 2021: International Flavors of Carnaval and is described as:

It’s Mardi Gras served up a whole new way – an international food fest with cuisine inspired by Carnaval celebrations from around the world, entertainment and more. You’ll sample the flavors of Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Germany, Spain and other regions including, of course, New Orleans. Plus you’ll enjoy spectacular floats on display, street entertainment, beads and more. Experience the food and fun daily at Universal Studios Florida.

Spring Break has been busy at Universal Orlando Resort. In fact, the theme parks have been reaching capacity on multiple days, especially during the weekends.

Keep in mind that you do not need an online reservation to enter a Universal theme park, unlike Walt Disney World. If the parks reach capacity Universal hotel Guests are still able to enter the park when they present their hotel key — one key per adult, so request them from the front desk accordingly!

If you have not been able to make it out to Universal for this unique Mardi Gras offering, I personally highly recommended it. The food is great and portion sizes are generous for a theme park food and drink event!

Additionally, the event lanyard is a great deal, especially if you are a Universal Annual Passholder.
