Universal Studios Hollywood reopened after a year-long closure on April 16. Now it appears that Universal is gearing up to bring back special events, such as Halloween Horror Nights, to the park in 2021!
Here is how they could accomplish this under the current guidelines for California, and what you need to know about visiting Universal Studios Hollywood now that it has reopened.
Photos of the construction of Halloween Horror Night houses at Universal Studios Hollywood have surfaced on social media. This is great news for fans of the Halloween event, but how will Universal pull the event off this year given the current reopening guidelines for the state of California?
The California government has previously stated that they plan to have the state’s economy fully reopened by June 15, 2021. Combine this with the fact that Universal Studios Hollywood has just announced that out-of-state Guests could visit with proof of vaccination and things like capacity and restrictions could be lifted or modified at a rapid pace for theme parks in California.
While masks and social distancing will likely be enforced, the path to holding special events such as Halloween Horror Nights opens wider each day. It seems that Universal can sense that as they are rapidly preparing for the event. You can see photos of the maze construction for HHN thanks to Twitter user Inside Universal below:

Universal has not announced that Halloween Horror Nights will be taking place at Universal Studios Hollywood this year. Perhaps we could see a smaller modified event like Universal Orlando Resort held in 2020 — In which for no extra charge Guests could enjoy select haunted houses during the day.
What else is new at Universal Studios Hollywood?
Universal Studios Hollywood reopened with a brand new attraction, The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash. An attraction that is the perfect time for the whole family!
The park also reopened with new animatronics and special effects on Jurassic World: The Ride! There is so much to see and do at Universal Studios Hollywood.
As fans of Universal Studios Hollywood, we will be closely watching the development and construction of the mazes for HHN, and any other special events that could take place at Universal Studios Hollywood in the future. It is great to see the park reopening and Universal moving quickly to prepare for special events!
