There is so much happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It is one of my favorite resorts at Walt Disney World, and if it is your favorite as well, you will want to see these photos!
The new Monorail station that is being constructed in place of the previous station is moving along very quickly. Today we have photos of that construction to share, as well as information on the other improvements happening at the Polynesian.

Thanks to Bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct) on Twitter, we have some great photos of the ongoing Monorail station construction.
Keep in mind that the Guest rooms and the Polynesian are currently closed — Only the Disney Vacation Club villas and bungalows are currently available to book. Disney has stated that the Guest rooms should reopen this summer. We anticipate that is when the Monorail service to the Polynesian will reopen, but since Disney has not yet announced a firm reopening date for the Monorail stop at the Polynesian we cannot say for certain.

It is great to see how quickly this construction is moving. If you are staying at a DVC villa or the bungalows, you are within walking distance of the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) which also offers monorail transportation to the Magic Kingdom. You also have the option of taking boat transportation for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort directly to the Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s official page for Monorail transportation state that:
Due to refurbishment work at the Great Ceremonial House, monorail service to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is temporarily suspended.
What else is happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?
Disney is transforming the Guest rooms at the Polynesian to incorporate the characters from the animated film, Moana.
The subtle incorporation of the characters from the film adds something unique to the rooms at the Polynesian and I cannot wait for the Resort to welcome booking this summer so I can experience the updated rooms in person.
Currently, some offerings are unavailable, such as Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, and O’hana, you can still get a dole whip at Pineapple Lanai!
What do you think of all the changes happening at the Polynesian? Let us know in the comments.
