Disneyland is poised for reopening next month after being closed for what felt like an eternity.
On April 30th, Walt’s original gates (and that of its sister park, Disney California Adventure ) will open to Guests, but the offerings may be a little different from when the Park was last open. Nevertheless, Disney fans starved for their “homeland” entertainment are excited about the opening, but will they visit Disneyland on reopening day?
Well, we decided to ask our Inside the Magic audience and much to our surprise, most people said they won’t be attending on reopening day in late April, and here’s why.
Most Disney Fans Will Not Visit Disneyland on Reopening Day
Guest reactions to the upcoming reopening day have been far and wide, covering the spectrum of excitement, anxiety, fear, and elation. California’s tight shutdown over the last few months has had people feeling trepidatious about flocking to the theme park, but others crave a distraction full of magic and hope.
The reopening of the Downtown Disney District gave Disney shoppers an option in Orange County to get a Disney fix while the California theme park was closed.
A mere 23% of readers polled were planning to visit on reopening day, out of sheer excitement and anticipation. This lower number may also have something to do with the fact that Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California is limiting any visitors to those that are a California resident. Those that live out of state and are yearning to visit Disneyland will have to wait until restrictions lift.
Various responses were sent to us, covering personal reasons why Disney fans are not yet ready to visit Disneyland. Most are waiting until local restrictions are removed, or reopening guidelines are relaxed, while others want the theme park to function as normal, with parades, nighttime spectaculars, removal of mask mandate, and indoor dining restored.
What’s interesting is that not many social media users responded with concern over any pricing, or musings of what the future Disneyland Annual Passholder program may look like. Several Reddit users were considering their top personal price to get back into Disneyland Park to enjoy the magic. Users considered bids as high as 10,000 if Disney park capacity was severely limited.
