At this year’s Flower and Garden Festival, Disney World has officially brought back its iconic character topiaries, as well as over 20 Outdoor Kitchens that allow Guests to stop and try a bite to eat from various locations “around the world”.
Note that this is another “Taste of EPCOT” festival — amid the ongoing pandemic, Disney World has been modifying offerings like the festival events at EPCOT since the parks reopened in July 2020.
EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival
The 2021 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival debuted on March 3, 2021 and will run through July 5, 2021. Guests can look forward to seeing character topiaries such as Mickey Mouse and friends, Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Remy, Lady and Tramp, Figment and more!
Guests can also try foods from all around the world thanks to the 20 Outdoor Kitchens located throughout World Showcase. And while you are traveling through the pavilions, keep an eye out for Spike, the buzz-iest honeybee at Disney World! As part of Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration, a springtime scavenger hunt starring Spike, Guests will be able to spot this friendly bee all throughout World Showcase.
But, with this being another “Taste of EPCOT” event, many are wondering if it is worth visiting the Flower and Garden Festival this year? Well, we decided to head on over to EPCOT to see what the 2021 festival was all about and here’s our experience.
Is It Worth Visiting the Flower and Garden Festival in 2021?
If you are looking for some festival fun while on your vacation, I highly recommend visiting this year’s Flower and Garden Festival. Though it’s a bit different than in years past, there are still plenty of Outdoor Kitchens to choose from, a variety of beautiful topiaries, and unique entertainment!
Here are some highlights from my recent visit.
The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival offers several Outdoor Kitchens, but for 2021 the theme park has debuted two brand new ones — EPCOT Sunshine Griddle which offers delicious brunch items and EPCOT Farmers Feast with offers a rotating seasonal menu.
On my recent trip, I tried several different food items and wanted to share some of my favorites so you can be sure to taste them when you are visiting the festival.
Must-Try Food Items
First on the list is the France pavilion! We tried the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy — Vodka, Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka, St. Germain Liqueur, White and Red Cranberry Juice — and the VeRy Raspberry — Rosé Wine with Natural Raspberry Flavor.
Secondly, we highly recommend Germany! Here at the Outdoor Kitchen we tried the Apfelschaumwein — Sparkling Wine and Apple Liqueur. We also tried the Potato Pancakes with House-made Apple Sauce. There is another option with Ham, Onions and Herb Sour Cream. We asked if they could add the Sour Cream on the side and they were able too!
Garden Graze Food Stroll
Additionally, EPCOT is bringing back its popular Garden Graze food stroll. Disney Parks Blog writes:
Returning is the Garden Graze, a fun food stroll highlighting five delicious offerings at the festival – all listed in the Festival Passport. Upon your Garden Graze purchase, you will receive a stamp for your Festival Passport. Once you’ve collected all five stamps, bring your Festival Passport to Pineapple Promenade Outdoor Kitchen to receive a complimentary prize exclusive to the festival. Complete the Garden Graze at your leisure, and you can even bring back your stamped Festival Passport to EPCOT at any time during the festival to complete your Garden Graze.
The beautiful topiaries are always a fan-favorite at the Flower and Garden Festivals. Guests can see some of their favorite characters bloom to life thanks to these incredible topiaries located throughout World Showcase.
Here, we see the Three Caballeros, who have been missing from the Gran Fiesta Tour ride for quite some time. Fortunately, Guests can get their fix with these topiaries instead — at least for now!
What’s special about the 2021 Taste of EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is that for the first time ever, the theme park is bringing local Orlando bands for entertainment! Disney Parks Blog writes:
Also new for this year’s festival are some tasty musical morsels for your ears! Each weekend, you can enjoy a series of concerts featuring local bands from Orlando, also known as the “City Beautiful.” Friday through Monday evenings, these “City Beautiful” bands will take the stage at America Gardens Theatre to perform popular songs of yesterday and today.
