Disney fans in California — heads up! As theme park reopening news continues to be released, we wanted to remind our readers that there is one thing you will no longer be able to experience for free as of next Thursday: Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure.
In November 2020, Disney California Adventure Park began welcoming Guests again. Though the theme parks of the Disneyland Resort remained closed (and still do!) for the time being, one area of Disney California Adventure reopened to Guests for shopping and dining only. For months, Disney fans could enter the theme park without a ticket, getting to experience Buena Vista Street, Grizzly Peak, and Hollywood Land (and even getting glimpses of other areas of the park from a distance!) at no charge.
But although we continue to receive major news pertaining to theme parks in California — from the sold-out event coming to Disney California Adventure to the news that theme parks can start reopening much sooner than expected — we also have to remind our readers that this is the last week they can experience one of the Disneyland Resort’s theme parks without a ticket.
As a reminder, Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure will only continue welcoming Guests for free through March 14. From March 15 through 17, this area of the Disneyland Resort will be closed as Disney Cast Members prepare to reopen the theme park for a special ticketed event, A Touch of Disney. And beginning March 18, the only way Guests will be able to enter Disney California Adventure will be with a ticket to A Touch of Disney.
The Downtown Disney District, and Buena Vista Street, are open with select retail and dining locations. Buena Vista Street remains open for guests through March 14, 2021, and will close March 15, 2021 to prepare for the upcoming A Touch of Disney experience. – Disneyland website
Also, as mentioned, A Touch of Disney is sold out. Disney said that they would be selling tickets to the event on a rolling basis, and on Thursday, March 4, amid ticket sales, the company even extended the dates on which tickets would be available. All tickets for A Touch of Disney — from March 18 through April 18 — are completely sold out, and Disney has not yet shared when more tickets will be available. Many are doubtful that the event will last beyond April 18 due to the recent news that says theme parks are allowed to reopen next month, but Disney hasn’t yet made any official announcements.
If you plan to visit Buena Vista Street to experience the 1920s atmosphere of Disney California Adventure at no additional charge this week, you can click here to visit the official Disneyland website and read all about what you should expect before you go.
Remember that even after A Touch of Disney begins on March 18 (and even while Buena Vista Street is closed from March 15-17), the Downtown Disney District is still free for all Guests. Parking is $10 per car, per day, at the Simba parking lot adjacent to Disney’s Paradise Pier hotel.
Currently, the theme parks of the Disneyland Resort (Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park) and the hotels of the Disneyland Resort (the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa) are temporarily closed. We continue to await more news from Disney.
