From the iconic Happily Ever After fireworks show at Magic Kingdom to Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Guests are counting down the days until they can once again see fireworks light up the night sky.

We have already seen certain shows make their return to Walt Disney World, including For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, therefore, we know Disney can run these shows with safety guidelines implemented. So, is Disney getting ready to bring back nighttime spectaculars next?
Well, recent developments lead us to believe it’s possibly happening!
Is Fantasmic! Returning Soon?
For the past few months, the Fantasmic! lagoon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been drained as the theme park cannot currently host the nighttime show due to the pandemic. However, there are now some signs that may be pointing to the return of the show!
Disney recently filed a handful of permits for the Fantasmic! location in the theme park, which you can see below:
- 956 Cypress Dr — Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.
- 1051 Cypress Dr — Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.
- 951 Cypress Dr — Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.

Though the permits do not give much detail, these could have been filed in order to help Disney World prepare for the reopening of the nighttime show.
The theme park could be looking to add safety protocol into the amphitheater including social distancing measures, plexiglass, as well as other protocols that have already been implemented in other areas of the Walt Disney World Resort. We expect Disney to ensure that groups are separated by party and either safety measures are prioritized whenever Fantasmic! does make its return in the future.
