Per our previous coverage of The High Republic launch, the golden age of the Jedi Order — which has been called “untethered” and “unchained” — is set to showcase Jedi characters like fans have never seen them before:

Star Wars fans can expect numerous new characters — including Padawan Reath Silas, Padawan Keeve Trennis, a new squadron of pilots named Leox, Geode, and Affie and a character with the ominous moniker “Buckets of Blood” — and at least one brand new species, never before seen in a galaxy far, far away.

The High Republic — which will last for years in Marvel Cinematic Universe-like phases — is said to be an “interconnected mega story.” During yesterday’s [from prior coverage, panel was held January 4, 2020] panel, Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain shared:

“Phase I runs through 2021 into 2022. I’m not going to tell you how far it goes into ’22, but I can say that there will be a steady stream of books, comics, and magazines coming your way on a monthly basis, which is really exciting. When we talk about this being a multi-year initiative, that is true. We are absolutely playing the long game here.”

Now, as fans have begun reading the first High Republic releases, they are sharing their ecstatic reactions on social media.

Light of the Jedi author Charles Soule got things started with a post that reads:

What a spectacular day. Thank you.

In the comment section, Star Wars writer Soule answered fan questions and responded to praise from his followers.

Twitter user Tim Gannon tagged illustrator Ario Anindito and freelance comic writer Cavan Scott who penned the Star Wars: The High Republic issue #1, writing:

The first issue of Star Wars: The High Republic from @cavanscott and @arioanin is an absolute blast, allowing for a completely accessable entry into the world of the High Republic. Looking forward to more!

Both members of the High Republic creative team responded to Gannon, thanking him for his support of this new foray into Star Wars storytelling.

Cavan Scott also wrote his own social media post, sharing a review of the first issue of the latest Star Wars comic series:

“Star Wars: The High Republic #1 brings light and life to this new era of Star Wars.”

A commenter, Clark IV, wrote:

On the subject of High Republic, when it comes to Stellan Gios do you consider his dueling prowess and Force-Sensitivity comparable to the Prequel characters you’ve written like Dooku?

Scott cryptically replied, “All will be revealed!!”

Julz Likes Star Wars simply Tweeted:

Can we just appreciate how awesome Star Wars The High Republic looks? Can’t wait to explore this new era!

Caoimhin McCrissican shared a “Yay!!” GIF of Grogu (AKA Baby Yoda AKA The Child) from The Mandalorian and captioned it:

Read the first issue of the High Republic stuff, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve ordered The Light of the Jedi, but now I’m not sure I can wait for it to arrive. Might have to get it on kindle, so I can jump in immediately. This is going to be fun! #StarWarsTheHighRepublic

Other fans on social media shared their opinions about new characters who have never before been introduced in Star Wars — Master Yoda is the only familiar character within The High Republic. PiratePrincessJess wrote:

I like Bell Zettifar a lot. I want more of this character #StarWarsTheHighRepublic

Adrian Ruiz shared these thoughts about the newest chapter of the Star Wars story:

I didn’t think I could be any more excited for #StarWarsTheHighRepublic but then I read The High Republic 1 from @cavanscott, @arioanin, @LeoniAnnaLisa86, @CommentAiry, and @philnoto. The first issue has brought as much excitement as the novelization have! For Light and Life!

Finally, Bizarro Fett shared a feeling that many Star Wars fans haven’t felt for a long time — at least until the release of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian in 2019 — excitement:

Have to wait one more day for my #StarWarsTheHighRepublic book and it is freakin’ killin’ me. Oh well! I’ll have the comic today at least. #StarWars got me all excited again.

Have you ventured into the adventures of The High Republic era yet?
