Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company Bob Chapek has issued a statement following the events that transpired at the United States Capitol on Wednesday.
After pro-Trump rioters assaulted the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. yesterday, Congress affirmed President-elect Joe Biden’s 2020 election win. As more news regarding the incident continues to come to light and investigations are ongoing, several political and business leaders are making their stances known. Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s statement regarding the matter is now being shared across Walt Disney Company social media channels.
The statement reads as follows:
“Yesterday was a sad and tragic day for our country, one unlike any other in our history. What we saw was an egregious and inexcusable assault on America’s most revered institution and our democracy. Thankfully, the democratic process that we hold dear ultimately prevailed. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we come together as one nation — united by our shared values, including decensy, kindness, and respect for others. We should seize this opportunity, and move ahead with optimism and hope for a better, brighter future for all of America.”

Current Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s statement was shared on social media via the Walt Disney Company official Twitter account as well as Disney’s other accounts.
This is only the most recent instance of Disney speaking out about social and political events. Over the summer amid civil unrest, Disney issued several statements to share that the company stands against racism and for inclusion. The company also released a message to employees following the killing of George Floyd and other instances of lethal attacks and harassment of unarmed Black citizens in the United States.
We will continue to update Inside the Magic, should Disney release more statements regarding the incidents that have recently transpired.
