Credit: @thezachriddleyWhile almost all eyes were turned to the exciting Disney+ news coming from Disney’s Investors’ Day event last night, December 10, some exciting milestones were hit at Disney Parks as well!
One of the massive barges that will be used for EPCOT’s new nighttime spectacular, HarmonioUS, was moved into place on the World Showcase lagoon, and Imagineering Portfolio Executive for Walt Disney World Resort, Zach Riddley, shared the exciting news on his Instagram saying:
I’m happy to share a first look at a major milestone in the development of “Harmonious,” our new nighttime spectacular coming to EPCOT. Overnight, the first of five enormous floating platforms was moved into position on World Showcase Lagoon to begin testing of its onboard show equipment. Once completed, these platforms will create a sparkling fountain, providing new energy to World Showcase during the daytime, and after dark, they’ll become part of one of the largest nighttime shows ever created for a Disney Park! Work continues, and we will be sharing details of the creative vision, music, imagery and global inspiration for this one-of-a-kind spectacular as we make additional progress.
We at Inside the Magic was there to share the news when Riddley first announced the permanent installment of the new barges during the D23 virtual segment “EPCOT – The Magic of Possibility,” during the Fantastic Worlds Celebration event.
“These show elements will become a defining feature of EPCOT,” said Riddley. “Their scale gives us a chance to bring a beautiful new ambient daytime look to the world showcase lagoon with water fountains that perfectly situate these elements within World Showcase and of course the real magic will happen at night when they come alive.”

At this time, there is still no official word from Disney confirming when we can expect the daytime and the nighttime show to begin, but one can only hope that these installations can only mean more testing will be happening soon.
