If you were excited to ring in 2021 with Mickey, Minnie, and the gang at a Disney World theme park, unfortunately that does not look like it will be happening. With Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom all closing early, it seems like in-room celebrations are what Guests will have to experience at the strike of midnight.

If there is one thing that I was sad to miss this year, it was the midnight fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, but it seems like Disney is still finding a way to sprinkle some firework magic on their Guests this New Year’s Eve! You can watch prerecorded fireworks from your hotel room.

According to Disney:

Update for New Year’s Eve
Everyone here at Walt Disney World® Resort is looking forward to welcoming you at The Most Magical Place on Earth. As we continue to celebrate the season and enjoy the splendor of the holidays, we’d like to share information about this year’s New Year’s Eve activities.

All four Walt Disney World Theme Parks as well as Disney Springs are decorated for the season and feature extended operating hours. On New Year’s Eve, however, these locations will close prior to midnight as we continue to follow health and safety measures put in place during our phased reopening to help foster physical distancing.

New Year’s Eve Hours of Operation
* Magic Kingdom, 8:00 am – 11:00 pm
* Epcot, 10:00 am – 10:00 pm
* Disney’s Hollywood Studios, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
* Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
* Disney Springs, 10:00 am – 11:00 pm

Your Disney Resort hotel will offer fun and festive activities. Full details will be provided upon arrival. Additionally, pre-recorded fireworks and other holiday offerings will be available to stream on in-room televisions to help you ring in the new year. You can even purchase a New Year’s Eve party basket designed for the occasion. View details or call your Travel Professional.

From all of us to all of you, Happy New Year, and may 2021 be your most magical year yet!

Usually, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are the two heavy hitting parks when it comes to NYE. Both hit capacity by noon last year and Guests love to celebrate and party in the magic. This year, as we last reported, EPCOT will close at 10:00 PM and Magic Kingdom at 11:00 PM, just one hour shy of midnight.

Although we won’t get to watch the fireworks live this year, it is great that Disney World is still trying to give their Guests some magic this holiday season. Plus, it would be a memory of the times, and hopefully, the only time in history that this will be the only option for Guests — and maybe a way to pave the future of firework streaming at Disney World!

So get ready to celebrate NYE a little different this year at Disney World!

Will you be watching these NYE fireworks?
