New Year’s Eve at Disney World is going to be a little different this year, mostly due to the fact that it isn’t actually happening. And now, Disney is making sure to remind Guests — in a very kind way — that festivities are wrapping at 11:00 pm latest at Disney Springs.

For many Disney World Guests, celebrating New Year’s Eve at the parks is often a huge ordeal with a firework spectacle and shoulder to shoulder crowds. This year at the parks, capacity will still be at its maximum (albeit 35%), but you won’t be packed like a sardine in Magic Kingdom in front of Cinderella Castle waiting for fireworks — in fact, you won’t see any fireworks at all. Disney Springs and Magic Kingdom are the 2 locations on Disney World property that will be open until 11:00 pm on New Year’s Eve, with Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios closing earlier.

Disney has made the decision to not actively celebrate New Year’s Eve by fully closing down their parks and shopping center by 11:00 pm (although Disney Resort Guests can watch a recorded NYE firework show on their TV). That being said, if you have ever been to a Disney World theme park or Disney Springs at closing, you know that Guests often linger. Considering that there will be a one hour buffer between Disney Springs closing this evening, and 2021, it seems that Disney is making sure Guests know that this does not mean they should stick around — and that 11:00 pm is a hard out.

Disney Springs (@DisneySprings) Tweeted:

Cheers to 2021! While @DisneySprings is open on #NewYearsEve, celebrations look a little different this year. We are open from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and encourage guests to plan ahead and celebrate early. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

The photo goes on to remind Guests that retail and outdoor bar locations will close at 11:00 pm, there will be no fireworks, but Guests can enjoy entertainment and select restaurants until 11:00 pm this evening.

Kevin B (@kbrewFL) also showcased the Disney Springs parking garage queue to get your temperature checked. The large queue shows that Disney is expecting a large number of Guests to want to celebrate the evening at Disney Springs.

Currently, all 4 Walt Disney World Resort theme parks are at capacity this New Year’s Eve, so if Guests would still like to celebrate a portion of this day in the Most Magical Place on Earth, Disney Springs is likely your best option — unless you have a Disney Park Pass reservation. Just remember, at 11:00 pm your royal carriage will turn back into a pumpkin!
