At the Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day Event, Lucasfilm, led by Kathleen Kennedy shared some insights into the new prequel series: Andor.
Joining a killer lineup that includes the confirmed Ahsoka series and Rangers of the New Republic, Andor follows the story of Cassian Andor at the beginning of the rebellion.
Kennedy confirmed that production began 2 weeks ago in London and it will be released on Disney+ in 2022.

Andor is one of 10 Star Wars shows planned for Disney+. Other shows in the lineup include an Obi-Wan Kenobi-centered series (with a confirmed return of Hayden Christiensen’s Darth Vader), a spinoff series based on “The Bad Batch” from Star Wars Clone Wars, and a series centered around R2D2 and C-3PO.
“We ushered in an entirely new era of Star Wars and there’s more to come,” Kennedy said of The Mandalorian. “Now with Disney+ we can explore limitless story possibilities like never before and fulfill the promise that there is truly a Star Wars story for everyone.”

Kennedy’s news follows Andor star Diego Luna appeared on Jimmy Kimmel from London to share the news that production had begun.
“It’s basically everything you have to know to understand Rogue One,” Luna said of the upcoming series while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “The story of the character before. I can spoil the ending I guess!”
While it is a prequel of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor will not be a direct sequel of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
