EPCOT’s highly-anticipated Space 220 restaurant — which is going to allow Guests to feel as though they are dining in zero-gravity outer space — has faced its fair share of construction delays.

Many of these postponements, of course, have been coronavirus related. However, there was also an incident in which a pane of custom glass was broken and had to be completely remade. Reporter Scott Gustin confirmed the glass issues on Twitter months ago.
I’m now hearing March 2021 as a possible goal date for Space 220… but that timeline comes with the same footnote I shared back in February: https://t.co/WCJc7uLeLo

Now, at the IAAPA Expo, Disney has given Space 220 watchers something to get excited about — the very first interior photo of the upcoming intergalactic restaurant!

Here, we see Disney Parks workers — presumably from the Walt Disney Imagineering department — taking a look at the huge glass windows that will line the entire restaurant [see concept art, below]. As diners sit at booths and tables in the tiered space, they will be able to actually see themselves orbiting Earth.
In this incredible photo, we get our first taste of what this will be like in reality — and, if you’re anything like this writer, you’ll hardly be able to contain your excitement for an official Space 220 opening date!
As you can see, the concept art closely matches what the actual Space 220 experience is shaping up to look like.

The official webpage for EPCOT’s Space 220 features the following description of the one-of-a-kind Disney Parks restaurant:
Embark on the ultimate culinary exploration from this new expansion of the Mission: SPACE pavilion.
Step inside Space 220—a celestial panorama of a space station—for a delicious meal! As you dine, peer out and enjoy amazing daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.
To begin your journey, board a special space elevator that will ascend to the stars! Along the way, viewports will give you an aerial view of Epcot as you travel high above the planet.
Upon your arrival, you will dine from a menu featuring modern American cuisine, more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.
Are you looking forward to dining at Space 220 — hopefully in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2021? Click here to book a trip!
