Upon hearing the news, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson explained that “I usually have a cool calm demeanor when I hear good news,” but when he heard this news he freaked out!
The Rock posted to Instagram over the weekend saying the following (Warning: the following Instagram post contains profane language):
Thank you to my brother – the one and only iconic maestro, Lin Manuel Miranda for writing this classic for me to sing and the world to sing along to. Thank you to all of you around the world who love the song and the swaggy, fun it brings.
And finally, a huge daddy thank you to the real reason this song is 4Xs Platinum and growing – my 2 year old boss, Baby Tia who LOVES hearing me sing this song to her, but has no idea I’m actually, Maui – which kinda makes this whole thing that much more awesome.
And one last thing…
You’re welcome… and thank you”
This is the fourth time Lin Manuel Miranda’s lighthearted song earned platinum status. Performed by The Rock, “You’re Welcome” allows Maui to introduce himself to both Moana and the audience, and it allows for some much-needed comedic relief after Moana ran away and her grandmother passed away.

This song’s return to Platinum status is a clear sign that Lin-Manuel’s soundtrack for Moana is earning its place among classic songs and soundtracks like “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Second Star to the Right” from Peter Pan, and “Part of Your World.”
