With the recent opening of Buena Vista Street inside Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort, many Disney Guests have flocked back to the parks, including Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro.

On November 19th, Disneyland Resort reopened Buena Vista Street, which is a part of the Disney California Adventure Park. Since Disneyland Resort has been closed the past 8 months, with no real guarantee as to when it will fully reopen, this new addition — which is being treated as an extension of Downtown Disney — is a huge deal for Guests!

We were on location on opening day, and reported about the massive lines that took place prior to opening. Guests were lining up 3+ hours prior to Downtown Disney opening, Disney even opened it up an hour early due to demand. With 25% capacity, however, the inside looked barren in comparison to the exterior lines.

One of the Guests who has been visiting Buena Vista Street is Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro, one of the parks biggest advocates during the pandemic. Instagram user @Ladysithlordly posted on Instagram that Josh was at Disneyland Resort chatting with Guests. After hearing the news that Orange County was being pushed back to Tier 1 (they need to get to Tier 4 to reopen), it is great to see that Josh is there making the best of the current situation.

If you are planning on visiting Downtown Disney to explore the latest extension at Buena Vista Street, and step back into a Disneyland Resort theme park, please note that you may need to gauge the capacity. The Disneyland App is alerting all Guests that they may experience increased capacity, and they should plan for extra time when coming to visit.

Prior to this, Disneyland was only sending out these notifications through Twitter, but it seems that considering the growth in crowd size, Disneyland is streamlining the notification process at this point. This will allow for all Downtown Disney Guests to know about the capacity status prior to visiting, even if they are not an active Twitter user.

Are you planning on heading to Downtown Disney to experience Buena Vista Street?
