Earlier this week on the Walt Disney Company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, CEO Bob Chapek announced that Walt Disney World Resort’s four theme parks have quietly increased their capacity to 35%. This is nearly a 50% increase over the capacity level when the parks began their phased reopening in July.

Tonight, it seems that large crowds are also flocking to Disney Springs to go out during the holiday season. Although Chapek didn’t specifically address Disney Springs’s current capacity on the earnings call, it serves to reason that it, too, has increased.

Social media is abuzz with reports of massive crowds this evening.

Heidi Weirsma (@heidi.wiersma) shared this video to her Instagram account, showing the snoap — and the packed sidewalks — at Disney Springs tonight.

On Twitter, Lisa (@lisa_x13) wrote, “Why are there so many people entering Disney Springs rn [right now]?!”

Back on Instagram, user Ray (@sirray) wrote, “Disney Springs is PACKED,” accompanied by a photo of busy walkways with what appeared to be very little social distancing.

Twitter user Sarah (@sarahburble) tagged Disney Springs in her disgruntled post about the apparent lack of capacity control on this particular Saturday night, writing, “@DisneySprings call me when yall actually decide to enforce social distancing! i saw the CROWDS of people trying to get in and did a 180 back to the car. Do better maybe? #disneysprings #disneyworld

Instagram user Rubio (@broker_rubio) shared another snoap video from Disney Springs, showcasing the massive throng of people gathered around one of the shopping and dining district’s Christmas Trees.

Gene Herefuentes (@geneherfuentes16) also took to Instagram to show a video of the crowd surrounding the Christmas tree.

Note that although Disney World has increased capacity, appropriate face coverings are still required on Disney property, and other health and safety protocol is also in place across Walt Disney World Resort.

What do you think about the huge crowd of people at Disney Springs this evening? Does the increase in capacity at Walt Disney World affect your decision to take a vacation, or are you moving forward with your plans? Share your thoughts in the comments!
