During the latest episode 13 of ‘The Mandalorian’, Star Wars fans were excited to see a well revered character finally make her live-action debut.
During the episode entitled ‘The Jedi’, viewers are introduced to Ahsoka Tano. However, fans were a bit divided when it came to thoughts on her live-action appearance. The character is widely known in the Star Wars universe and gained her popularity in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and also in the Star Wars Rebels series.
So, when it was announced that Rosario Dawson was going to step into the role, fans were already skeptical. When the episode debuted on Friday, Ahsoka Tano’s appearance created a bit of buzz among fans. Mainly, due to the length of her head tails. Her head tails appear to be shorter and smaller than seen in the animated series. This left fans wondering why they decided to make this change. Thanks to Concept Designer for The Mandalorian, Brian Matyas, he answered this question on his Twitter page.
In a response to why Matyas and the design team decided to go with shorter head tails for Ahsoka Tano, Brian had this to say:
“Yea pretty much that was the chief concern. From animation to live action I did a ton of design exploration for her and their appropriate size for the actor with consideration for stunts and movement. I’m sure I’ll get to discuss at greater length in the near future!”

Judging from the action scenes in this episode, it seems like Matyas had the right idea and made a great decision for designing this character. Hopefully we will get to see more of a live-action Ahsoka Tano in the future!
