Wearing a proper mask has always been enforced at Universal Orlando Resort, but new signage has been added to the theme parks to let guests know if they do not properly comply to the mask policy set by Universal, they will be required to leave the theme park.

If you are travelling to Universal Orlando Resort in the near future, you are likely to experience a different type of vacation. Due to the global pandemic guests are required to wear a mask throughout both Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, as well as the Universal downtown district, City Walk.

Orlando Informer took to Twitter to showcase new signage being displayed throughout the Universal Orlando theme parks that is strictly enforcing masks at the parks. The sign reads:

SAFETY ADVISORY

Guests not properly wearing an approved face covering will be required to leave.

The sign also goes into exact detail on what approved face covering means stating that it “Must cover your nose and mouth and be secured under your chin”, as well as “Must fit snuggly against the sides of your face and be secured with ear loops or secured around your head.”

According to this description, it seems that Universal will still allow gator style face coverings — something that the Disney World resort has banned from their parks. If you want to know when you must wear a mask at Universal Orlando Resort, we reported the guidelines set out by Universal which states:

“Guests must wear face coverings at all times, unless they are actively eating or drinking, and they must also be socially distanced from other travel parties while consuming their food or beverage. Inside restaurants, we have arranged tables and seating so that guests can safely remove their face coverings while enjoying their dining experience.”

The acceptable vs. non-acceptable face covering descriptors at Universal are as follows:

An appropriate face covering for a visit to Universal Orlando must fit the following criteria:

Must cover your nose and mouth and be secured under your chin
Must fit snugly against the sides of your face and be secured with ear loops or secured around your head
Must be at least two-ply (consist of at least two layers)

The following are NOT permitted at Universal Orlando:

Face coverings with exhalation valves
Face coverings that are not secured with ear loops or secured around your head
Face coverings that include mesh material or holes of any kind
Costume masks or veils, per our costume guidelines

Universal Orlando Resort has been seeing very large crowds as of lately, with Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure hitting capacity on most weekends. Social distancing measures are in place throughout the park, as well as a limited capacity, however some coasters like The Incredible Hulk Coaster are no longer seating spaced out rows.
