Yesterday, another round of Walt Disney Company layoff notices were sent to Disney Parks Cast Members.

This time, it was primarily entertainment Cast Members at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort who were impacted. Numerous social media users are now sharing that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was hit hard by last night’s wave of Disney layoffs.

Twitter user @TristenTierney shared this heartfelt message to the SWGE costuming team, who has made Batuu truly come to life for Guests:

A majority of the SWGE Ent. costuming team was laid-off and I am crushed. I want to personally thank you for all of your help the last two years. Your hard work never went unnoticed and you are appreciated immensely. I could not have done my job without you.

Another Tweet by @sierxpxctwx, which indicates a large portion of Galaxy’s Edge Cast Members were impacted, reads:

Ok obviously seeing the cm layoffs made me sad …. but seeing my swge family leave their goodbye messages on the fb page is so heartbreaking. Seeing them write with on-planet phrasing makes my heart hurt I don’t wanna say goodbye to them 🙁

@FreddyFromBatuu also indicated the breadth of the Galaxy’s Edge layoffs, tweeting:

Half of SWGE attractions just got dusted. My heart breaks for all of my friends who are being forced to leave Batuu. Til the Spire!

Twitter user @nayla_bean shared a few details about which Star Wars land Cast Members were impacted by the layoffs, indicating that characters and retail Cast, presumably from Blackspire Outpost, have been laid off:

First it was Characters & now it’s my SWGE Retail cast getting their notices. It is unreal to lose such amazing individuals that put their heart and soul into their roles. I’m so sorry. I want to save you all and walk around the Spire learning about your aspirations & dreams 1/?

Although we do not yet know which Star Wars character performers were laid off at SWGE at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland Park in California, Rey, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and First Order Stormtroopers all make regular appearances on Batuu.

Remember, these are still part of the original 28,000 layoffs that were previously announced. The Walt Disney Company has not yet made clear whether or not any of these laid-off entertainment Cast Members are expected to be recalled in the future as operations return to normal post-pandemic.
