It seems that even though Walt Disney World has opened the county in which the vast majority of the massive resort resides in has not seen an increase in coronavirus cases. In fact, a report from The Orlando Sentinel gives us insight into what top health officials for Orange County FL are saying. Coronavirus cases have dropped and reached a sustained low percentage which means all of the safety measures put in place are working for Walt Disney World.

The report reads,

Coronavirus infections have plateaued in Orange County at a level that the state’s top health official here called manageable and a sign that locals are “learning to live” with the virus.

“You can plateau at any level — it means [infections] are stable — but this is a good one,” Dr. Raul Pino said Monday after a briefing about the pandemic, blamed for 431 deaths in the county. “If we were to stay at this level, that would be perfect. If we could go lower, even better.”

Positivity rates have held steady under 6% for 14 days and the rolling average for the past two weeks is under 5%.

With low testing rates and, by far, fewer new cases, “We are able to do all the [contact] tracing, all the tracking on the same day that we receive the data,” Pino said. “That’s key. If we can stay this way a little longer it will help to slow the pandemic even more.”

It seems as though Orange County Residents and the many visitors the county has received since reopening have all been doing their part to help slow the spread of the virus. The strict health and safety guidelines put in place by state and local governments have been working. The report also states the Orange County Mayor, Mayor Demings also has Inspectors that visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently. Demings said it earned a letter of compliance.

We reported earlier today that Josh D’Amaro was pleading with California’s state and local officials to issue guidelines so that Disneyland may also reopen in a safe way for both guests and cast members. Hong Kong Disneyland also set a reopening date today with new safety measures in place for guests and cast members.

We will have to wait and see if cases continue to drop in Orange County.
