It appears that Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is about to undergo some refurbishment or renovations.
The Walt Disney World Resort recently submitted a notice of commencement to Orange County in which it “hereby gives notice that improvement will be made to certain real property.” That “improvement” is stated simply as “general construction” and the “real property” is identified as Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
While there are no further details regarding what construction will be occurring there, we have reason to believe that this “general construction” is meant for the Big Blue Pool at the Finding Nemo-themed area as Walt Disney World announced earlier this year that enhancements were going to be made to the pool beginning this fall.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is also scheduled to remain closed until November 1, which provides the resort with several weeks’ time to make whatever refurbishments, renovations, or enhancements they have in mind.
The Big Blue Pool
Featuring underwater speakers and all of your favorite Finding Nemo characters, The Walt Disney World Resort describes The Big Blue Pool on its website as the following:
Just keep swimming in the largest hotel pool in all of Walt Disney World Resort.
Inspired by the Disney•Pixar “splash hit” Finding Nemo, this huge, zero-entry pool contains over 308,527 gallons! Guests can relive the story of their favorite clown fish alongside giant set pieces of Nemo, Crush and other beloved characters from the film.
For the little ones, Schoolyard Sprayground is home to pop-up jets, gushing water and more familiar faces from Finding Nemo, while Squirt’s Righteous Reef is a Nemo-themed playground perfect for kids who prefer to stay dry during playtime.
