World of Disney — the large, fan-favorite Disney store at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort — has officially reopened. We’re reporting live on the official reopening day of Downtown Disney, sharing our experiences on the reopening of the World of Disney store.
When World of Disney reopened at Disney Springs on May 27 — one week after Disney Springs reopened — it was met with large crowds and a virtual queue of sorts. Here on the west coast at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort, Disney has also implemented a virtual queue to handle the large crowds. You simply need to give a Cast Member your cell phone number and they will send you a text when it is your time to enter.
Just like at World of Disney at Disney World, the store at Disneyland Resort has health and safety measures in place. Social distancing is enforced through a limited store capacity and markers and signage placed throughout the store.
While there currently is limited capacity inside the World of Disney store, there are areas that can still feel congestive as Guest navigate the store.
Additionally, in case you are in need of a fresh face mask while at Downtown Disney, you will be able to pick up some new Disney themed ones.
Overall, the reopening of Downtown Disney was a huge success as Disney fans were more than ready to get back to the magic! We had to wait in the virtual queue for one hour and 45 minutes before getting to enter. Although the store definitely seemed crowded at times, we are assuming this was largely due to the excitement of it being the first day opened in over three months!
All of the Disney-owned and operated stores that reopened today include the following:
- World of Disney
- Disney Dress Shop
- Disney Home
- Disney’s Pin Traders
- Wonderground Gallery
- Marceline’s Confectionery
At this time, Disney has not yet announced a reopening date for Disneyland park, Disney California Adventure, park, or the three onsite hotels at Disneyland Resort. Guests are able to book vacations at Disneyland Resort hotels for August 1 and later.
