As Walt Disney World prepares to reopen Magic Kingdom and its other theme parks by using a new park reservation system, one question on the minds of plenty would-be Guests is “How long is this reservation system going to last?”
Well, it appears Guests may have to make park reservations from reopening through 2021.
This report comes from Twitter user Scott Gustin, who wrote:
Multiple travel agencies based in the UK have received communication from Disney that suggests Walt Disney World plans to use the park reservation system through 2021. The system, still being developed by Disney, appears to be sticking around for a while.

Gustin’s Tweet was backed by Walt Disney World website itself. The newly updated Disney World admission calendar, which shows when annual passholders can make a park reservation based on their pass tier, shows that park reservations will continue to be necessary through June 2021.
Keep in mind that at the time of this article’s publication, Disney has not shared how long reservations will be required to enter the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks (or even how long a system like this will be in place at Disneyland Resort, either).
While Walt Disney World has yet to finalize and open its theme park reservation system, the mega-resort has begun reaching out to those would-be Guests who have already purchased a pass or a ticket. In an email, Disney instructed them on how to link their tickets, and passes to the My Disney Experience app suggesting My Disney Experience to be the place where theme park reservations will be made.
Disney shared the following update:
Take action now to prepare for your upcoming Walt Disney World Vacation! Link your reservation and tickets to stay informed about important next steps and key planning dates, including the recently announced Theme Park reservation system and important Know Before You Go resources…
To prepare for making Theme Park reservations, each Guest in your travel party must have a valid ticket linked for each day they wish to visit the Disney Parks. Please note: If you have a room and ticket package for a select Walt Disney World Resort hotel, your tickets will be included when you link your Disney Resort reservation…
Once the Theme Park reservation system is available, return to My Disney Experience to make Theme Park reservations. Remember, to enter a Disney Park, each Guest in your travel party must have both valid admission and a Theme Park Reservation for the same park on the same date, for each day they wish to visit the Disney Parks.
Walt Disney World Resort has also made it clear that while hotel reservations will get Guests onto the property, it will not grant park access those hotel Guests a valid park ticket. A theme park reservation is still required.
