It seems like weeks ago, now, since the stories first emerged that fan-favorite Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano would make her live-action debut on the Disney+ Original Star Wars Series, The Mandalorian, and she would reportedly be played by actress Rosario Dawson. But so far, no one has confirmed that Dawson would be playing the renegade force-wielding rebel, and Dawson has remained mum on the subject…until now.
In an interview with Variety, Rosario Dawson explained what she can about the potential role.
“That’s not confirmed yet but when that happens,” she said. “I will be very happy. I’m very excited for that to be confirmed at some point.” She also admitted that if she got the role, it would be entirely because of the fans who took the idea and ran it all across the Twittersphere.

And the fans have taken it beyond The Mandalorian. Earlier this month, Inside the Magic covered that Dawson will reportedly receive a multi-show contract that could also see her introducing Ahsoka Tano into Disney+’s planned live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
However, there was still one name that has been left out of these new potential developments, and that is Ahsoka Tano’s original voice actress Ashley Ekstein. In an Instagram post, she admits to being completely in the dark about anything new with Ahsoka beyond one last season of Clone Wars, yet she was still on board with anything Disney was ready to do to give fans more Ahsoka.
She said:
“The truth is, I am not involved in The Mandalorian. I can’t answer questions for something I have not been a part of. I am an actress and I have performed in all types of mediums; live-action film/television, theater, voice-over, hosting and it has been my dream for 14 years to continue to play Ahsoka Tano in all forms.
I will continue to be grateful for opportunities to help create stories for Ahsoka Tano and I am always happy to see her legacy continue. I am only one member of a tremendously talented team of people that it takes to bring Ahsoka Tano to life. The final decisions of Ahsoka are not mine to make and I cannot comment on something that I truly know nothing about.”
If the rumors are true, Rosario Dawson will be the first person to play Ahsoka Tano in a live-action role, as well as the second person to ever play the character since Ashley Ekstein introduced the character to Star Wars fans 14 years ago.
