Mint Simple Syrup Recipe
Melt equal parts granulated sugar into water in a saucepan then turn down heat to a simmer. Muddle in double the amount of fresh mint leaves and simmer for about 10 minutes. 1 Cup sugar + 1 Cup water + 2 Cups mint will make a you a good amount for your next few batches of Mint Julep.
For this summer drink, replace the lime and lemonade concentrate with equal parts watermelon juice. It’s a yummy one for lounging around during summer time! Top with watermelon and mint instead of lemon and maraschino cherries.
Haunted Mansion Blackberry Midnight Julep
This version of the julep came out in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion. It’s a Blackberry Midnight Julep which you’ll crush up blackberries for the base of this drink. Remove the lime juice concentrate from the recipe. Swap the usual topping for mint and a lychee. (You can find fresh ones, but canned ones work too!) It looks like an eyeball!
Holiday Cranberry Julep
For a festive holiday season mix in cranberry juice to the recipe, about 1 Cup should be good just to give you a hint of that flavor. Top with a lemon slice and mint leaves.
This Strawberry Julep is great for Valentine’s Day! To make this sweet creation, slice up 1 Cup strawberries and crush them. You want the juices to come out. Add them to the bottom of your glass before serving.
Alcoholic Mint Julep
Feel free to make this an adult beverage as well by adding in some Liqueur. The best pairing would be a white rum, but vodka or tequila would work as well. Enjoy!
