Concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 has caused yet another would-be Hollywood blockbuster to be delayed: Marvel’s Black Widow.

The long-overdue film featuring Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff was originally slated to be released on May 1. However, that appears to no longer be the case and Disney has yet to announce a new release date.

While we are still waiting on an official statement from Walt Disney Studios or Marvel Studios, the news was confirmed by the movie site Fandango:

Black Widow is one of the original six Avengers and has been a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since she made her debut in Iron Man 2. However, she and Hawkeye were the only ones left without an origin story of their own. And fans went into an uproar seeing Captain Marvel get her own standalone film before their beloved Natasha Romanov.

In, Black Widow, we will follow Natasha back to the Motherland to take care of some unfinished business. She will be reunited with her former “family” which is cast by Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour. In regards to when it will take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we are told that it will be in between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. From the trailers, there is reason to hope fans will learn more about Natasha’s infamously mysterious backstory. Including, more context for her dream sequence in Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as the world behind The Winter Soldier.
