It appears Disney will return moviegoers to Zootoptia for more adventures with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde in 2021.
This news was originally leaked by Zootopia actor Tommy “Tinny” Lister (Finnick) at a fan meet and greet.
He said, “I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We are doing three of them… We are the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was 240 million. This one I’m hearing will be 300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising. But the movie made 2.6 billion, with merchandising and the box office.”
But apparently, Lister couldn’t tell fans, because the video of him sharing the news was almost immediately removed from social media.
This is an older story making its rounds across the internet once again. Inside the Magic previously covered this story when it first broke last year. Click the links below to read our original stories:
While Walt Disney Studios is yet to confirm this story, we have reason to suspect that this is true. Zootopia itself did not end on much of a cliffhanger, it did end with a fully-established setting with developed characters that offer lion-sized potential for more stories. It also proved to be one of Disney’s most successful animated films yet.
The Walt Disney Company is certainly not done with Zootopia either. A Zootopia-themed land is currently under construction right now at Shanghai Disney Resort. However, one has to wonder how China’s coronavirus outbreak will affect the land’s completion. Disney has released no official word on the matter and the theme park and the entire resort remain closed.
