After years of waiting, we have confirmation that the beloved series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will return to Disney+ with 12 brand new episodes next month.
Streaming of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will begin on Monday, February 17, 2020, releasing one episode per week.
News of the show’s return was first announced at the San Diego Comicon in 2018. Attendees were promised the seventh season of their favorite Star Wars show would be created and released on Disney+ in early 2020. But we did not have a confirmed release date until now.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
First aired on Cartoon Network, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was an animated TV series that answered the question “What happened during the time jump between Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith?” It expanded the Star Wars universe, shedding light on more of Anakin and Obi-Wan‘s adventures and the other events that occurred during the Clone Wars.
We were introduced to some new characters. We met some very special Clones such as Fives, Cody, and Rex; some new bad guys such as Count Dukoo’s apprentice, Asajj Ventress, the Bounty Hunter, Cad Bane, and the leader of Death Watch, Pre Vizsla; and some new Jedi such as fan-favorite padawan, Ahsoka Tano.
But most importantly The Clone Wars demonstrated the complicated nature of the prequel plotline that three movies could not sufficiently do.
Before it was canceled, Star Wars: The Clone Wars won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2005 for Outstanding Animated Program in the category of programming one hour or longer. There is no doubt we will receive the same caliber of programming when it returns.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars will premier its seventh and final season on Disney+ on February 17, 2020. You can watch the trailer for the new season here:
