Attention Spider-Man and Tom Holland fans — We have some amazing news!
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, after coming to an agreement, are now teaming up for one more Spider-Man film, which will be set in the MCU. We knew the untitled Spider-Man 3 film would begin filming sometime this summer, and now, we have a production start date as well as global locations!
The untitled Spider-Man 3 film will begin production in July 2020 and will run through November 2020. It will be filmed in locations such as Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, and Iceland. The film is expected to hit theaters in July of 2021.
Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Spider-Man after appearances in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Earlier this year, Holland teased MCU fans on what they could look forward to with the third film. He even shared how the Spider-Man movies have all actually mirrored his life in some ways.
“It’s interesting, in the third film… I don’t want to talk too much about what it will be about,” Holland said at Keystone Comic Con in Philadelphia. “There’s another deep connection to the next one for me which will be really cool to bring to life.”
Holland went on to explain that the untitled third Spider-Man movie will be “something very special” and “something very different.”
We still are unsure of the plot of the upcoming untitled third Spider-Man film, but Marvel President Kevin Feige previously shared that it would be Peter-focused and Peter-based.
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige said.
“Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
