In the latest update regarding coronavirus, Hong Kong Disneyland looks to be another Disney Park around the world who has been affected. Or at least, that’s what all signs point to, according to the Hong Kong Disneyland app. It looks like character meet and greets at Hong Kong Disneyland have been canceled due to coronavirus.
At the time of this article’s publication, fur character meet and greets are still scheduled, but face character meet and greets (such as opportunities to meet Moana in Adventureland or Anna and Elsa in Fantasyland) no longer appear to be scheduled.
A Hong Kong Disneyland guest also Tweeted today that shared that Hong Kong Disneyland has canceled face character meets for today, and Princesses will only appear in parades.
香港ディズニーは今日からフェイスキャラクターのグリはキャンセルになりました。

Because of coronavirus — which currently has an outbreak in China and can cause mild but potentially lethal respiratory infections — Shanghai Disneyland has closed temporarily and has issued refunds to guests who purchased tickets to the theme park. As of now, there is no word on whether Hong Kong Disneyland will take the same action Shanghai Disneyland has, but if the park canceled character meet and greets because of the virus, then we are happy that they are taking action to protect their Cast Members.
Another Disney fan also pointed out that even though Shanghai Disneyland closed due to the virus and Hong Kong Disneyland has canceled meet and greets with face characters, these are only precautions for guests and Cast Member safety, and they are temporary measures. The effect (or potential effect) of coronavirus at Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland currently does not mean that Disney fans shouldn’t visit these parks in the future. Disney is simply doing their part to make sure the coronavirus outbreak in China doesn’t affect Disney Parks guests and Cast Members
Despite Shanghai Disneyland closing and Hong Kong Disneyland banning face characters its important to note these are only precautionary measures and do not reflect the outbreak being out of control or a danger to people who may be looking to visit soon. Lets pray for China ??
