We may have just found out the new directors for Disney’s next animated film.
Both Howard and Bush have been in the Disney family for quite some time now. You may know Howard from his work directing the hit movie Tangled, the short Tangled Ever After and the hit movie Zootopia. Howard is also known for executive producing the highest grossing animated film, Frozen 2.
Bush is known for both writing and co-directing Zootopia, alongside Howard, as well as writing Moana.
Though we don’t yet have much information about what the next film will be focused on for the Walt Disney Studio, sources are saying it could follow a Latino family. If this comes to be true, this will be a very big step for Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Walt Disney Animation Studios latest creation was the record-breaking sequel, Frozen 2, which became the highest grossing animated film of all time.
Moving on from Frozen 2, Walt Disney Animation Studios is currently working on a film titled Raya and the Last Dragon, which we found out about during the 2019 D23 Expo. Raya and the Last Dragon will take place in Kumandra, which is a fictional land based on the southeast Asian cultures. The main character, Raya, will be a fearless and determined warrior who has to find the last dragon.
According to Disney at D23, the team wanted to make this film as authentic and real as possible, so they traveled to Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia to conduct their research.
Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins will direct and Adele Lim will write for Raya and the Last Dragon, which will hopefully be released next year in 2021.
Unfortunately, Disney has not yet responded to Discussing Film regarding this story.
