Construction is moving along in the Magic Kingdom at the site of the new TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction! The latest milestone for the newest addition to Tomorrowland saw the final piece of ride track lowered into place.

Like previous milestones in the the new attraction’s construction, the occasion was celebrated by Imagineers and area Cast Members. Everyone who has been hard at work clearing the land for the large show building and designing the track was on hand to celebrate this milestone, and you can take a look at what the progress on the ride is like so far in the video below:

Based on the 2016 attraction from Shanghai Disneyland, TRON Lightcycle / Run will be a roller coaster type ride offering additional thrills in the Magic Kingdom adjacent to Space Mountain, a current thrill seeker’s go-to attraction. The TRON Lightcycle / Run has been extremely popular in Shanghai Disneyland and we’re excited to see what kind of energy this new ride brings to the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is not only sure to revive this classic film, but it also comes with an innovative new ride vehicle design. To experience this attraction, guests will board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles where they’ll be seated similarly to how one would ride a bike (or experience Flight of Passage).

Earlier this year, Cast Members were able to keep a Disney Parks tradition alive by signing one of the first steel column support beams, and with the addition of the last piece of track the attraction appears to be right on schedule for opening by 2021 in time to the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort.
