The Augusta Training Shop is a nonprofit that provides jobs for disabled adults and has taught craftsmanship since 1947.
Employees learn how to refinish household objects, weave seats, and cane chairs, but this year, artisans from the Augusta Training Shop created handmade snowflakes.
The artisans used a seat weaving technique for repairing chairs to create the snowflakes and Walt Disney World was extremely impressed when they saw their creations.
Disney decided to decorate Disney’s Animal Kingdom with the handmade snowflakes and even invited the artisans to see their homemade work in person!
Augusta Executive Director, Audrey Murrell, said that Disney’s decision was “extraordinary”. “What Disney has done for us is breathe new life into these hearts and these hands,” Murrell stated.
This year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom introduced its biggest holiday season yet! After being open to Disney guests for almost two-decades, Disney’s Animal Kingdom debuted brand new festive entertainment and holiday décor in every land.
Discovery Island is filled with life-sized animal puppets all throughout the day, but as the sun sets, the Tree of Life will come to actually come to life and show off a shimmering new look.
In DinoLand, U.S.A., Donald Duck and his friends will gather around for an unforgettable party. Disney guests can get into the holiday spirit with hew holiday decor and a dance-off with some of the most iconic Disney characters for Donald’s Dino-Bash.
Asia, Africa, and Pandora – The World of Avatar will also be celebrating in their own unique ways. Needless to say, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the place to be this holiday season.
