With Disney+ slowly rolling out across the world (the Netherlands being the first country to receive the service earlier this week), it’s safe to say we are getting excited for all the original shows coming to the service.
However, according to a new report, it’s old programming that fans are most looking forward to binging when the service launches to the US, Canada and across other countries in November.
In fact, “The Simpsons” and “Star Wars” came out on top of the list of shows that fans are most interested in and before you say does that include The Mandalorian, it doesn’t! In fact, it would seem that fans are most interested in going back and watching “Star Wars Rebels”!
The research was conducted by Parrot Analytics who captured billions of different data points to come to these conclusions. Data was gathered from social media, critic ratings, file sharing, bloggers, and video streaming websites. All of the data was then combined to give the top-five most anticipated shows that fans are set to be interested in watching first. Here’s the top five for the US and Canada according to the research:
- The Simpsons
- Star Wars Rebels
- Mickey Mouse Club
- Andi Mack
For New Zealand and Australia, the list is very similar but with “Andi Mack” swapped out for “Wicked Tuna,” a National Geographic show.
For the country already with the service (though admittedly in a basic format), the Netherlands, the top five also includes “The Incredible Dr. Pol.”
Why it might be surprising to hear a 30+-year-old show at the top of the list, consider that it’s almost impossible to watch every episode of “The Simpsons” from the very beginning in one place without spending a fortune. This is even more true outside of the US wherein countries like the UK, there are many seasons of the hit show that aren’t even available to purchase!
