Christmas is the most magical time of the year and what better way to celebrate it than by staying in an enchanting abode designed to look exactly like Hagrid’s Hut from the Harry Potter films? And thanks to the new Groundkeeper’s Cottage charity competition, your stay could be free!
Yes–you read that right, you can stay in a highly-themed Harry Potter house for free if you win a special prize package worth £5,000 as part of a special charity competition in benefit of Lumos, J.K. Rowling’s international charity for disadvantaged and orphaned children.
Typically, a stay in the cottage rents for about £1,400 a week. Although, if you win this prize package, you’ll only be responsible for your entry fee, which runs for £1 ($1.23). The package is good for up to six people, who will get to spend seven nights in the hut from December 22 to 29.
As part of your stay, you and your guests get to enjoy the hut’s high-quality mattresses, comfy sofas, open fireplace, and copper roll-top bath. Additionally, the winners will also get to meet a snowy owl, enjoy a festive hamper, and enjoy afternoon tea with a Harry Potter lookalike, who will share magic tricks.
The experience also includes a visit from Santa Claus and a ride on the Goathland steam train, which was originally used as Hogsmeade Station in the “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” film.
For more information about Groundkeeper’s Cottage or to enter, be sure to visit the official website. Entries for the competition are set to close on October 31, so be sure to sign up soon. A portion of the funds earned from the £1 ($1.23) entry cost will go directly to the Lumos charity.
