Robert Downey Jr. became the recipient of this year’s Choice Action Actor at the Teen Choice Awards for his role as Tony Stark AKA Iron Man in “Avengers: Endgame.”

The Choice Action Actor Award is the first major award of the season for Robert Downey Jr., an honor well-deserved for his work on the film and throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With “Avengers: Endgame” now dethroning “Avatar” as the highest grossing film of all time, his achievement is certainly a point of pride for the entire production team and Marvel fans everywhere.

Present during the announcement of the Choice Action Star honors were a group of pint-sized Iron Man fanatics who loved Downey’s character Tony Stark throughout the Infinity Saga. At this year’s event, “Avengers: Endgame” also went on to receive the Choice Action Movie award, and Scarlett Johansson received the award for Choice Action Movie Actress for her role as Black Widow, with Josh Brolin taking home the Choice Movie Villain award for Thanos.

While “Avengers: Endgame” marks the end of an era, Marvel Studios is not slowing down. Upcoming films include “Black Widow” (May 1, 2020), “The Eternals” (November 6, 2020), “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” (February 12, 2021), “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (May 7, 2021), and “Thor: Love and Thunder” (November 5, 2021). “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” (fall 2020), “WandaVision” (spring 2021), “Loki” (spring 2021), “What If?” (summer 2021),  and “Hawkeye” (fall 2021) will debut on Disney+ to further flesh out the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Disney and Marvel led the movie segment of this year’s Teen Choice Awards with Robert Downey Jr. alongside Scarlett Johansson and Josh Brolin but also with awards received for “Aladdin” (Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie, Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie Actor for Will Smith and Actress for Naomi Scott) and for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (Choice Summer Movie Actor for Tom Holland and Actress for Zendaya).

As for Robert Downey Jr., many fans as well as “Avengers: Endgame” Director Joe Russo believe he deserves an Oscar for his role as Iron Man so it is quite possible that the Choice Action Award is just the first of many he may be receiving this season.
