Today’s panels at the D23 Expo gave us a new look at updated concept art for the facade of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
The attraction, which is set to open in Hollywood Studios in 2020, will be the first attraction based around Mickey Mouse himself, and the new exterior is truly something. Before even entering the cinema within the Chinese Theater, guests will enter a magic portal to bring them from the human world right into the heart of the cartoon world.
Once the attraction gets moving, guests will be immersed into the crazy and cartoony world of Disney’s new Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” shorts. Goofy will serve as your engineer on an adventure loaded with twists and turns. All-new technology and visual effects will be used to create a multidimensional experience that is sure to make our usual 3D attractions feel like a thing of the past. The ride will also feature an entirely original story and catchy new theme song.
Planning a trip to Disneyland in the next couple of years? Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be debuting on the West Coast in 2022. Disneyland’s version of this sure-to-be classic attraction will take guests to the cartoon world through El CapiTOON Theater, following a short stint through an exhibit celebrating artifacts from the cartoon word.
With these new looks at the exterior concept art at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the attraction’s fully immersive interior, it looks like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be the perfect addition to celebrate the “Big Cheese” himself on both coasts, and we can’t wait to check it out in person when it opens next year!
