Disney just announced that an all-new barn is coming soon to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground to accommodate the beautiful horses and ponies at Walt Disney World.
Currently, Disney’s Fort Wilderness is the home to “The Happiest Horses on Earth,” who live at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch when they’re not making magic happen on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. Guests who have visited Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World know of the amazing experiences offered at Tri-Circle-D Ranch, where kids and adults can enjoy horseback riding and pony rides.Â
Disney will be giving the horses and ponies at Tri-Circle-D Ranch a beautiful, updated new barn. In the concept art above, you can see that starting in 2020 once the redesign is complete, Tri-Circle-D Ranch will offer a modern stable and updated outdoor spaces for the beautiful equine residents of the Pony Farm and Ranch. Additionally, the new Tri-Circle-D Ranch will maintain the history and spirit of the original as it welcomes guests to explore unique exhibits that include classic Disney equestrian artifacts, some of which date back to the 1950s when horses were first featured at Disneyland Resort in California.
Guests are advised to keep in mind that this means some experiences will be limited until the new barn opens in 2020. Here’s what the announcement reads:
Starting August 19, the Draft Horse Barn and Pony Farm will temporarily be inaccessible to guests until the new barn debuts in Spring 2020. Guests can still enjoy Pony rides at the Trail Blaze Corral near the campground’s entrance, and the resort’s trail rides and carriage rides will continue to operate as normal.
Although we don’t yet know an opening date for the new barn, we’re definitely excited to find out more. The transformation seems like it will only benefit our horse and pony friends at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and we’re happy that some of our favorite Cast Members are getting a wonderful new home that they deserve.
